This is a blog post written by a current DTS student. She has been writing blogs for us about the things that she has been learning in her classes and everyday living on the YWAM Mazatlan base.
I was reminded of something incredibly important and powerful today in my DTS class. It is a simple idea, but it’s so easy to forget time and time again. In case you too have forgotten, I want to encourage you and remind you of a beautiful, precious truth.
Every single day when you wake up, He is delighted. He is excited! He says, “there’s my daughter. She is beautiful, gracious, and kind. There’s my son. He is strong, worthy, and capable.” He completely adores you and He looks forward to seeing you, listening to you, watching you, and talking to you every single day. He adores spending time with you.
A couple of weeks ago I was reflecting on the beauty of God’s creation, and I was thinking of the specific parts of His creation that are most dear to my heart. I took time to pray over those aspects of His creation and thank Him for thinking of me at the very beginning and creating those things for my delight. It was incredible to me to think of God creating these things with me in my mind all those years ago. During one of our DTS classes, the guest speaker taught about how God made all of creation for all of our delight. He made a spectacular world filled with spectacular things all because He loves us and wanted us to have the very best! Again, He did this because He adores us and delights in us, and it was His delight to create us!
So often, we carry around guilt and shame with our relationship with God, and we let it cause a separation between us and Him. He never wants this! Our shame does not come from the Lord. He wants to be with us always. He doesn’t want anything to separate us from Him, because we are His delight! Because of this, He wants us to rid ourselves of all sin, shame, and guilt, and simply be with Him. Something I heard in one of my classes is that God hates sin precisely because He loves us, and He will even keep us from some of the good things life has to offer if they are somehow bringing us harm or separating us from Him. Because of this, the more surrendered you are to God, the more you give up your life and your own desires, the more of Him you are going to receive. When we live life completely open to God as the giver and taker of every good thing, it is much easier for Him to bless us, and much less painful when He intervenes to remove harmful things from our lives. One of the biggest lessons I have been learning here at YWAM Mazatlan is how to live life with my hands open, completely surrendered to what God has for me. God wants every part of us, and He wants to be with us in every moment.
Zephaniah 3:17, “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”So just in case you forgot, God loves you dearly, and He’ll never stop. You are His delight.
