When you come to YWAM Mazatlan, you won't want to stay on the base 100% of the time! Whether you're looking for somewhere to go with friends on the weekend, or you want to spend some time alone during your break times, here's a list of 5 awesome places within walking distance of our base.

1. Looney Bean

If you're anything like me, there are few things in the world you enjoy more than sitting with a friend in a coffee shop, or else bringing your journal/computer and working.

Looney Bean is the prime spot for coffee, great food, friends, and looking out over the ocean. Not to mention it's only a 15-minute walk along the boardwalk from the base!

2. The rocks at Pinitos beach

Need to be alone with nothing but your thoughts and the sounds of the crashing of the waves? Check out these beautiful lookout rocks about a three minute walk from the base.

3. The lighthouse

The base of the light house is within walking distance of the base. It provides stunning views of Mazatlan, a great point from which to watch the sun set or rise, and an easy to moderate hike, depending on how fast you take the stairs!

4. Plaza Machado

Plaza Machado is Mazatlan's beautiful town square located in the historic district of the city. There are always decorations and busy restaurants around, but on the weekends you can also find street dancers, parades, musicians, painters, markets, and everything in between.

Check online to see if there are any events or holidays going on. The plaza is about a 20-minute walk from the base!

5. Any beach on the malecón

There are many beaches along the 13-mile boardwalk known as the alecón. You can get to the Malecón by taking a short 45-second walk from the base! There is a beach right across the street from YWAM, and even more to choose from if you walk toward the tourist alley known as the Golden Zone.

Don't just take our word for it! Mazatlan is full of beautiful views, delicious restaurants, and new locations to discover. Check out all these places for yourself and maybe even find some of your own favorite spots!
