Great leaders inspire us. They push us to be the best that we can be in all aspects of life. They see what no one else does and they carry themselves in a way that seems so beyond what any human could ever do, but they do it. For this blog I was tasked with finding three things that make great leaders stand out among the rest. So here's what I found.
Winston Churchill was arguably the greatest British leader of the 19th Century. He was the leader of the war effort against germany during the holocaust. When things got tough, somehow he was always there with a quote to push on his country. I would say the greatest thing that we can glean from Mr. Churchill is his ability to press on toward the goals that he has regardless of what obstacles got in his way, or in a word, he knew how to Persevere.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
Martin Luther is one of my personal heros. He was a german Friar in the 15th century. In his studies he started to fight the Roman Catholic church on the idea of buying our salvation and said that the only way of salvation was through the grace that was freely given by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. He also believed and taught that salvation wasn't by works. He stood up for what he believed, he fought for what was right, he sacrificed all for love; he was Countercultural.
Faith is a living, daring confidence in God's grace, so sure and certain that man could stake his life on it a thousand times.
Mother Teresa spent most of her life in India serving the poor. She believed that her life was to give and give, to serve with everything that she had and to love until her last breath. She founded, "The Missionaries of Charity" organization. It is geared toward serving those who have HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Leprosy as well as running orphanages, soup kitchens and schools. To join the organization one of the vows required is that you will, "Give wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor." She is a true inspiration for her life long devotion to Compassion.
Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
